Specialty Materials
Our specialty materials vary in price and availability, so just add one of these to your cart and checkout with it. Please be sure to include three things in the sizing form: 1) Your ring size, 2) Your ring material, 3) Your ring style (including handed-ness for left or right hand specific ring styles). Unless you order something with it, no money will be charged. We'll then contact you with a quote.
But first, a little more information:
Metal rings are a great option, and strongly recommended for people who shoot a lot, prefer the slimmer ring styles, have smaller thumbs, or who shoot heavier bows. (bows ~50#s @full draw) Some of our stainless rings are currently being used to draw war weight bows, bows in excess of 100#s. These archers are expanding our understanding of Asiatic archery and armor; and these rings offer excellent durability. To further increase usability, we also offer texturing on the insides of some of our metal rings.
There are a variety of materials, other than the standard polymer colors, available at any given time. Some are only available in specific ring styles, they have varying lead times (typically several weeks), and are priced on request, so please be aware that not everything listed below is necessarily available at this time. These are all meant to be ordered after at least one ring in standard polymer, preferably in the same style is tried so that correct size, fitment, and style are known, or at the very least after having used one of our ring sizers.
Materials:
-Polymer - we have five standard colors, but any color can be accommodated for a price or production run of sufficient size.
-Coating - Any of our polymer rings can be coated, creating a beautiful semi-metallic sheen. In limited runs, we can also do coatings in colors we don’t offer as standard. While this finish is reasonably durable and permanently bonded (will not flake or chip), placing it over a contrasting polymer color can result in really beautiful contrast if the ring is engraved.
-Custom Decoration - We offer this as a standard service, with limited patterns and colors, however with some limitations we can carve whatever you like into a ring. Please be prepared with an image of what you want, and keep in mind a couple basic rules: 1) there are no “gradients,” you either remove the coating to expose the layer below or not, so if you imagine the image as black and white, it should be JUST black and white, no grayscale. 2) Rings are small, whatever image or pattern you want applied need be applicable to such a small area. We can do remarkable detail, but there are certainly limits. 3) Rings are made out of compound curved surfaces, so whatever design will have to tolerate being stretched and warped to fit across the curves.
-GITD (glow-in-the-dark)
-Carbon fiber
-Copper, Bronze, or Steel Composite
-Bronze, Brass, Copper - many archer’s rings discovered have been made in cuprous alloys, particularly bronze. Whether you want a user or a display piece, these are a great choice if authenticity is on your mind. It should be noted that all three of these cuprous alloys are done to a presentation-grade standard. Price is ~$150 per ring, quoted at time of order. Note: Larger rings can be considerably more in this material.
-Sterling silver - When you’ve found size and preferred ring style, this is the ring material you want. Beautiful, durable, and historically accurate for multiple styles. These rings are presentation grade, and can definitely be worn every day. Price is ~200$ per ring, quoted at time of order. Note: Larger rings can be considerably more in this material.
-Titanium alloy - Hypoallergenic, but difficult to work with, this aerospace titanium alloy has a slightly textured surface. They are also comparatively quite light weight. A great option for a piece of rugged functional jewelry. Price is ~400$ per ring. Note: Larger rings can be considerably more in this material.
-Stainless steel - This is a fantastic reasonably priced material for working rings, particularly if you shoot frequently or shoot heavier bows. It is not jewelry grade (unlike like our silver and cuprous alloy rings) instead having a textured surface. It is made with a 420 grade of steel. Price is generally around ~50-90$ per ring.
*Please note these rings are made individually to order, so there are no returns. For this reason we strongly encourage buyers to purchase one of our more modestly priced polymer rings, or at bare minimum one of our ring sizers, to confirm size and style before ordering one of these more expensive rings.
