Our rendition of the classic Manchu style cylindrical ring, but now available in a variety of unusual materials. Slick on the outside, and even more aggressively textured on the inside than our standard polymer models, these rings are solid performers.

We have four variants:

Biocomposite - We wanted something which would offer, not just a very aggressive texture, but some ability to absorb sweat to maintain traction on your thumb. This is our favorite for a real shooter’s ring. We tested a lot of different options to reach this material. Each is finished with our proprietary blend of citrus oil and beeswax, although we can do other finishes upon request. To be clear, this biocomposite has no relation to any Csaba Grozer products of similar name. This is a cellulosic lignin biopolymer composite. PLEASE NOTE our biocomposite material is a natural product, and so colors may vary.

Green GITD - In normal light, this ring appears very much like jade with its semi-translucent green hues. In the dark, when charged, it glows amazingly brightly, and that green glow can last for up to 12 hours thanks to our SrAl dopants. Combined with the aggressive internal texture this is a real favorite of ours, yielding our preferred Manchu rings. 

Blue GITD - In normal light, this ring appears as a polished stone gray, almost soapstone like in appearance. In the dark, when charged, it glows a subtle and truly exotic blue. 

Carbon Fiber - Made from milled carbon fiber, these rings are polished that subtle graphite lustre which is both beautiful and difficult to photograph. Nothing else out there is quite like carbon.

Our GITD versions are SrAl powered, allowing the rings glow significantly more brightly, and for longer, than much more common ZnS glow technologies. Please note that light intensity, not exposure duration, charges these best. Or, put another way, it is better to use a bright flash than a dim light to charge these.

Examples of antique Manchu rings exhibit a great diversity of styles. Manchu rings should, ideally, be as thin walled as the string will allow. This improves the speed and cleanliness of the release. Bearing in mind historical Manchu strings were significantly thicker, we find our slim rings make them particularly well suited for use with modern bowstrings. That said, to meet demand for users with more traditional bowstrings, or who simply prefer a thicker ring, we've now introduced a much thicker walled variant. Designed with the help of Peter Dekker, and tweaked feedback from the community, we owe this successful design to all of you. We size all our rings on a virtually continuous spectrum for a perfect fit. No longer do you have to live with set sizes made for a hypothetical thumb. Measuring your thumb accurately though is still difficult, which is why we strongly recommend our customers order a closely spaced set of three in our standard polymer to find your exact size prior to ordering a specialty GITD ring.
