Secret Menu
Congratulations, you've found our secret menu. Here you can find products which don't fit in, are oddball, we can't produce in large volume, don't have the level of polish we expect from our standard line of products, are experimental, are pet projects, aren’t quite ready for prime-time, etc. Keep an eye on this space as we don't advertise it, and you never know what you'll find here, but don't forget this page exists for you: our loyal fans and customers.
Egyptian Leather Thumb Tab
Egyptian Leather Thumb Tab
It is uncertain what type of release was used by Egyptian archers, and what sort of thumb protection they used. Pictured is an artifact often identified as a “wrist guard.” (ref. metmuseum.org) Several historians, notably including Mike Loads in his recent publication War Bows, have suggested that this may in fact be a thumb guard, and the missing link to the Egyptian draw.
We offer a replica of this artifact, sold flat as-cut, for those inclined to experiment with the design themselves.
