This is our new hybrid ring. We've made a number of significant improvements over the old lipped design to offer improved comfort, durability, and performance.
Unlike many other lipped ring designs, we wanted to keep the lip minimal. The lip on a ring should only serve as an aid in string placement, not a crutch to lean on. Too large of a lip allows, and even encourages, over-gripping and a whole host of associated form maladies. These include sloppy release, issues with arrow flight, string contact on the thumb pad, and can actually make it more difficult transitioning to other ring designs. Our minimalist lip avoids these issues, encourages correct form, and allows for consistent smooth releases. This does make it an intermediate-skill ring though, because the shooter must have a reasonable level of balance to place the string with the minimal lip. Unlike other rings though, ours has a second release. Either as your skill with a ring progresses, or simply if you want the snapper release of an Ottoman style ring, ignore the lip and release off the top. This dual release style ring is a hybrid of designs, and to our knowledge the first of it's kind.
We size all our rings on a virtually continuous spectrum for a perfect fit. No longer do you have to live with set sizes made for a hypothetical thumb. Measuring your thumb accurately though is still difficult, which is why we strongly recommend our customers use one of our Ring Sizers and order a set of three closely sized rings.
